Free eBook Day 1

Day 1 Strategy:  Ad stacks, social media, word of mouth.  Inspire people to click and see what the fuss is all about.

Day 1 Results: So far, so good!  As of this afternoon, White Dove was #6 in Historical Fiction- Irish (exciting, but probably a really small niche community of interest), but #44 in Fiction- War, which is a pretty large category.  We’ve got a ways to go before hitting #1, but we’re trending in the right direction!

Day 1 Takeaways: Perhaps the best part of today was running across my own Amazon ad while I perused a few books.  I know it’s out there and visible!  I know the book is getting some attention because, in addition to the near-real-time tracker on Amazon of how many people are downloading the free eBook, the page count for the Kindle Unlimited readers is soaring.  This means that people are seeing the book, taking a peak, and reading more than just the first chapter or so.  I am on pace to set a record for the number of pages read in a day, which is awesome news.  Promotions are all about exposure–more than chasing sales, I’m in the business of chasing reviews.

I’m excited about seeing how much momentum the promotion can gain and will keep you posted with the progress.  At the end of the week, I’ll do a wrap-up of lessons learned… what worked, what didn’t.  I’ll add it to my knowledge base as I try to hone the audience for this particular book through the feedback I get from my ad campaigns.

Until next time, keep scribbling!
