September Milestones
On September 17, 2019 by adminEver feel like time marches on and you’re not sure how exactly you spent the time? As the calendar begins to wind down each year, I always have to remind myself to take a quick look in the rear view before casting judgment on what I have and have not accomplished. I usually find that when I start to measure myself by the big goals I set, I start to feel a little lazy. But, it is important to remind ourselves that all big goals are set up by a series of small milestones, and those are what I am choosing to focus on this month.
As far as small milestones go, September has been pretty successful. I launched my first Scribble & Spark writer’s resource, which is something that I have been wanting to do for quite some time. For much of my writing career, I’ve been a consumer of the products that others have provided to the community, and I am excited to be giving back–even if it’s just a little bit–to that same community. Earlier this month, I published the SparkBook, a free outlining guide for writers who don’t like to outline! It’s specifically designed to help writers who prefer the creative journey to finish more works in progress. I hope that it’s the first of many Scribble & Spark resources. Since launching the SparkBook, my email list has grown, and more and more folks are tuning into the Scribble & Spark. For a small operation, that’s a huge win. It’s also two 2019 milestones that I can check off. Go September! (And thanks!)
Just as exciting, I ran a free eBook promotion for White Dove this month, and finally hit #1 in my genre on Amazon! That’s a huge milestone for Scribble & Spark. Even more exciting, White Dove his #3 in the War Fiction genre on Amazon, which is a huge category, and to me–even more exciting. It also means that I’ve set my sights on hitting #1 in that genre in 2020, which would be a great achievement for a little Indie.
While I haven’t (yet) hit my biggest goal of the year–to finish Forever England–I have made some great progress, and I’m forcing myself to remember that as I toil away. Also working in my favor.. NaNoWriMo is just around the corner! Nothing like a 50,000 word month to help this book across the finish line.
Whatever your big goals or little milestones are for the rest of the year, I wish you the best of luck in reaching them. And if you hit them, tell me about it! I’d love to hear about and share in your successes!
Until next time…keep scribbling!
